3rd Focus Exercise Lab 08

Focus

"AutoFocus Limitations"

I decided to pick this photo for my last Focus exercise because it contains many fine details. the image also shows the limitations of AutoFocus because it lacks brightness which made it difficult to get the subject on focus.

Focus

"AutoFocus Limitations"

I choose this photo for my second image. I decided to capture my friend, Livia, in front of a pine tree as her jacket has the same color shade (the color of the jacket changed in the computer because of the exposure) . It was hard to get her in focus as there is so much going on at the background.

 "Close-up shots"

This is the first photo that I took for this exercise. I capture this photo by moving closer to the subject and setting the camera lens to AutoFocus. The main part of this first exercise is to try to focus on a close-up subject and I think I achieved it.  What I also like about the photo is the contrast of one flower gives.

4th White Balance Exercise Lab 7

White Balance

For my last photo, I decided to edit the third picture I took because it was too bright. The whiteness of the building was covered so I decided to bring down the level of brightness and the contrast to show depth. I also added a bit of sharpness on the building to create texture.

White balance

I tried to set the white balance to Direct Sunlight as the sun was facing directly towards the building. However, the sunlight was lighting the whole place and my photo did not turn out as nice. It was also difficult for me to control the white balance preset properly as I am still not familiar with the settings.

White Balance

I like how the white balance turned out in this photo because it gives enough sunlight. This also captivates me because we can see the trees' reflection on the water.

White balance

In this photo, I tried to experiment by trying out different types of white balance and changing its filter color. I like the way this photo turned out because it has a cool tone that compliments the color of the flower just by using the fluorescent setting.

4th Creative Exercise lab 4

Berries

For this exercise, we have to take a photo of a scene that we are interested in. I took a photo of berries because it shows  the dominance and it only focuses in the object. However, I wish I could retake this photo with a higher exposure.

Smile on the side

The third exercise that we have to do is to choose a subject and place where it exist or stand out. I choose my friend, Livia, as my subject for this exercise and this photo was taken in the library.

This is also my favorite photo that I took in this exercise because she really stands out and her expression creates a positive and bright atmosphere against the dim location creating a good comparison.

Leaf

Our second exercise is to capture 10 abstract photos of  small objects in different angles. I decided to take a photo of a leaf and a rock to show their differences. e.g. texture and shape. I showed their contrast by placing the leaf beside the rock.

Close Up

We have to choose a location and take at least 20 photos while standing on the same spot for this exercise. This exercise is challenging because we are not allowed to change places or even move our feet.  However, I find this exercise really helpful as it helps me not to find another spot and stick to the resources I have at the moment and also use the skills that I learned.

I picked this photo because it's a close up of a bicycle tire and it clearly shows the small details such as the dirt and the rough texture of the tire. This photo also shows the little things that we never see if we don't give our attention to it.
